Swiss cheese plant<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Monstera deliciosa, or the Swiss cheese plant as it&#8217;s more commonly known, is a <a href=\"https:\/\/stylecurator.com.au\/top-10-trending-indoor-plants\/\">trending indoor plant<\/a>. And with those large, glossy leaves in that signature tropical shape, it&#8217;s easy to understand why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With these plants costing upwards of $50, it&#8217;s good to know you can save yourself some coin by growing it yourself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All you need to do is cut one leaf away from the plant and place it in a vase of at least 5cm water. Keep it in a bright spot, but not in direct sunlight, and after one week you should see roots begin to grow. Once they are 5-10cm, it&#8217;s time to pot them in a <a href=\"https:\/\/stylecurator.com.au\/best-soil-for-indoor-plants\/\">good quality soil<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Tip: <\/em><\/strong>be sure to cut the plant below a node (where a leaf meets the branch) for best results. But as I discovered when Alexander just snapped off a leaf, you can do that too \ud83d\ude1d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Devil&#8217;s ivy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This dripping indoor plant is one of my absolute faves. And based on the comments on the video I shared \u2014 one of yours too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s a lot to love about this plant. How beautiful it looks, how easy it is to care for&#8230; and best of all, how easy it is to propagate!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While I used to think it was best to cut longer sections of vine and either place these in water or pot directly into soil, I learnt it&#8217;s actually better to cut just 1cm either side of where a leaf meets the vine. This allows the maximum amount of water and nutrients to get to each leaf for maximum growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the roots are at least 5cm long, you can plant them. String of pearls<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This plant can be a little hit and miss to keep alive&#8230; but propagating it in water couldn&#8217;t be simpler! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just place one end of several strands of the plant in water, draping the rest of the plant over the rim of the vase. Be sure to refresh the water regularly, at least once a week is best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you see roots establish like in the photo below, it&#8217;s time to pot it. Again, I suggest using a <a href=\"https:\/\/stylecurator.com.au\/best-soil-for-indoor-plants\/\">high quality soil mix<\/a>. This plant likes well-drained soil so avoid heavy planting mixes. And place the plant in a spot that gets plenty of natural light but out of direct sunlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep up a regular watering schedule <meta charset=\"utf-8\">\u2014 once a week during summer and less frequently in winter <meta charset=\"utf-8\">\u2014 and watch this beautiful succulent GROW!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Will you use these tips to propagate one of these plants yourself?
