4. Egg vase using toilet paper

Hear us out for a minute… This DIY is surprisingly chic and we challenge you to find a cheaper Easter DIY idea out there!

With just a balloon, a few sheets of toilet paper and a water spray bottle, you can make these adorable Easter egg vases. Fill them with bulb plants as Jaruška did, place Easter decor inside, or get creative and find a different use for them.

5. Easter egg candles

Simple and oh-so-chic, we adore these minimalist Easter egg candles. Egg and bunny silicone moulds are readily available online and generally cost under $10. Make a few in different tones by adding wax dye to suit your home’s aesthetic and style them in a vignette. They are a fab decor item in their own right and add ambient, moody lighting when burning.

Alternatively, you could wash some real eggshells and make candles directly in the shells. It’s a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative.

6. Hack an Easter table lamp

Transform a simple tall glass vase into a sweet Easter table lamp with this creative DIY project! Fill the vase with faux moss, a decorative bunny, and artificial flowers to create a festive spring scene. Then, turn it into a lamp by adding a puck light and a lampshade. Perfect for adding warmth and whimsy to your seasonal decor.

7. Giant fabric decoupage Easter eggs (Polly Pocket vibes)

If you’re looking for something sweet to gift your children this Easter that isn’t chocolate, take a look at this adorable giant Easter egg idea. Using an oversized plastic egg, Gen spray painted it white, covered it with strips of fabric and finished with mod podge.

The best part of this Easter craft project is that she added a hinge to the back so the egg opens like a Polly Pocket. Inside she create a padded bed using the same fabric and filled it with a bunny toy and homemade book.

8. Speckled Easter bath bombs

A project that’s great fun with the kids and you’ll actually want to use are homemade bath bombs. You only need a few ingredients (that may already be in your cupboard) and to follow a simple bath bomb recipe.

Make them festive by picking up an egg-shaped mould and presto, Easter egg bath bombs. Use whatever essential oils you like for fragrance and get creative with colours or decorative accents — great as gifts or self-care treats.

9. Easter pillar candles

Another type of Easter candle you can make is to transform regular white pillar candles into charming Easter scenes using a napkin, piece of wax paper and iron. Yes, you read that correctly!

10. Fragrant farmhouse-style fabric carrots

If you love the farmhouse aesthetic, these fabric home fragrance carrots will be for you! Best of all, you won’t need a sewing machine. Just cut a triangle of your preferred fabric, like hessian, fill with dried herbs or flowers, and finish with a sprig of rosemary. These would look sweet on an Easter table or styled in a vignette.

11. DIY bunny door mat

Easter DIYs don’t get much simpler than this! A plain door mat, printed image and a can of spray paint is all you’ll need to give your entry a festive feel.

12. Make your own Easter egg clay ornaments

Another idea for your branch Easter tree is to hang clay ornaments. You can make your own clay at home using ingredients from your pantry, and then paint and decorate them however you like. Martha Stewart used bright and pretty pastel paints, while Kim Wallace Ceramics takes a more muted and minimalist approach.

Items you will need:

  • Piece of fabric (it’s best to use cotton or another material with some hold rather than nylon, muslin or a slinky fabric)
  • Twine or ribbons if you prefer a more decorative look
  • Crimping scissors (to prevent frayed edges)
  • Scissors
  • Fabric starch spray or hairspray

Steps:

1. Cut the fabric edges with crimping scissors to prevent frayed edges (optional but gives a nicer finish). Pastel colours and floral prints are ideal fabrics for an Easter vibe.

You could add extra decorative elements if you like. For example, it looks great personalising Easter gift wrap with names and messages, or you could attach a couple of dried or artificial flowers to the knot.

Items you will need:

  • Hoop (we used a dreamcatcher hoop from Lincraft)
  • Artificial stems (we bought a selection of stems from Adairs)
  • Artificial eggs (we bought these speckled eggs from Bed Bath N’ Table)
  • 2 x 40cm pieces of ribbon or trim (to tie a bow at the bottom and to hang the wreath)
  • Glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Pegs (to secure the stems while it dries)

Steps:

1. Cut down artificial stems into smaller sections.

2. Use your glue gun to glue the stems in an arrangement you like. We began with a layer of the brown foliage and carried these up higher on the left side, and then added some of the pink foliage on top. Tip: using pegs is an easy way to secure the stems in place until they dry.

3. Use a piece of trim or ribbon to tie a bow at the bottom (this also helps to hide where you’ve glued down your stems).

4. Optional: to make it an obvious Easter wreath, add some decorative eggs. We bought these speckled eggs from Bed Bath N’ Table but you can also find plain ones at craft stores that you can decorate in your own way.

5. Add a piece of ribbon or trim to the top to hang it.

How to style an Easter wreath

Now that you’ve finished your wreath, it’s time to style it! Because there’s more than one way to hang an Easter wreath around your home (or not hang, as you’ll discover), let us share with you our favourite ways to style an Easter wreath!

Hang an Easter wreath on your front door

Hanging an Easter wreath on your front door is a classic way to greet guests with Easter charm. Use a removable adhesive hook to discreetly hang the wreath or go for a more is more approach and use a giant ribbon to wrap your front door. Having a painted front door will really make your wreath pop and we’ve got a round up coloured front doors for inspiration.

Use it in an Easter vignette

You know how much we love creating vignettes around the home to add that final layer of style… and especially for festive occasions! Why not create styled arrangement somewhere in your home to create a festive atmosphere?! For example, you could lean the wreath on a sideboard and mix in other festive decor, like a moss bunny. Not everything in the styled arrangement needs to scream Easter, so take a look at this list of our fave home decor and pick out 5-9 items to pull together. If you’d like some styling tips, we cover how to create a vignette in this article.

Create a table centrepiece

Lay your wreath on a table and turn it into a centrepiece by pairing it with pillar candles and small Easter decor. It’s a modern way of styling an Easter wreath.

Hang your wreath in the entry

You can also hang the wreath above a mantel or along an entryway to bring a touch of Easter to your interior spaces. If you want to create a cohesive look, coordinate the wreath’s colours with your existing home decor, using pastel ribbons or floral accents to match the theme.

Style it in your kids bedroom

No one loves Easter more than kids and hanging a wreath on their bedroom door lets them know that Easter is just around the corner. It’s a cute way to build excitement and add festive spirit to your home.

Easter brunch is a tradition for many and with a little planning and effort, you can take your Easter brunch from fine to fab!

Here are three simple and stylish Easter table settings I created using products from my local Big W store.

Colourful and floral

On special occasions I like to have a bit of fun and break away from tradition. This floral Easter table setting has lots of pops of colour and would be a lovely way to start your Easter.

Begin with colouful wrapping paper, which acts as a disposable tablecloth and creates a big statement at very little cost.

These blue plates pick up on colours in the wrapping paper and add a big pop of colour, as do the pastel and gold mugs. I placed a white side plate on top and used pink and gold cutlery to finish the place settings.

A fresh bunch of pretty flowers is the only centerpiece you need and they can be moved to a sideboard when the food arrives. For a bit of fun, I also added some colourful chicks and Easter crackers on the table.

Minimal and contemporary

I’m a believer that less is often more and when setting a table, it’s important to leave plenty of space for guests to sit comfortably.

This look is inspired by afternoon tea – enjoying an Easter cake with a fresh pot of coffee or tea.

Simple white dinnerware, sleek cutlery and black glassware suit the minimal and contemporary style. I also used a dip bowl with handle to hold a selection of chocolates (all in gold foil to fit the minimal brief).

Minimal table setting

Minimal table setting

Natural and classic

Perhaps one of the most common table settings for Easter is a natural or woodland theme.

A mossy green bunny (or several) makes a stylish and affordable centerpiece. I placed mine on a wood slice board and made a sweet nest out of fresh branches that I could tuck Easter eggs into.

Select crockery and cutlery to suit your theme, like these plates in a muted colour, which I placed on natural placemats.

Depending on the size of your table, you could expand on your centerpiece with simple glass vessels with sprigs of branches or herbs, and place more natural elements or candles throughout.

As a child, is there anything more magical or exciting than going on an Easter egg hunt?! I still vividly remember the sense of adventure and fun I had on Easter egg hunts as a child and I couldn’t wait to create similar memories for my son.

Here is my guide to the ultimate Easter egg hunt!

1. Create an exciting starting point

Build anticipation with a starting point that let’s children know something fun is about to happen.

I used a cluster of helium balloons, Easter bunting along the fence, and ready-made Easter egg hunt signs, which can all be found at Big W.

Start here

2. Easter bags or baskets

Of course, your little ones will need something to put their Easter hunt haul in.

A simple straw basket is always a good option but as Patrick is only young, I was concerned he may tip all his eggs out, which is why I opted for deeper plush baskets and Easter bags. Both of these worked well as they were light enough for the children to carry but deep enough that things didn’t tip out. I also put some shredded tissue paper in the baskets to create a cushion base and protect those treasured Easter eggs.

3. Easter eggs and bunnies hidden throughout

Throughout the garden, I hid a selection of Easter eggs and bunnies for the children to find.

Some eggs were hidden well, such as underneath bushes, whereas others were in plain sight as this is the first Easter hunt for many of the children. As the hunt went on, even the youngest children became very good at finding the eggs!

4. Lead the way

To help little ones get started on the Easter hunt, you could give them some clues. I attached helium balloons at waist height to some of the eggs and bunnies so they were at eyelevel for smaller children and would guide them.

For older children, little signs like ‘This way’ and ‘Hop to it’ help point them in the right direction.

5. Create a sense of magic

Little details like bunny foot prints drawn in chalk or Easter confetti sprinkled along the path can create a sense of unforgettable magic.

6. Ultimate jackpot

At the end of the hunt, I like to create a big jackpot, which could include toys, books, and larger chocolates too.

Because Patrick is only young, one mini egg is more than enough for him. The jackpot of toys and books is a nice distraction while I took his chocolate haul away (he can enjoy these in moderation throughout the year) and he just loves this giant soft plush bunny.

Easter is just around the corner, and whether you’re a traditionalist or simply take the occasion to spend more time with family and friends, it’s a nice idea to decorate your entryway to create a festive first impression.

You don’t have to spend a fortune or do anything too complex to create a beautiful Easter-inspired entry.

These are my favourite Easter decorating ideas and they’re so pretty you’ll want to keep them up long after Easter!

DIY Easter doormat

An easy and fun DIY you can do for Easter is to create your own doormat. For just $7 you can pick up a plain doormat from Big W that you could personalise in a thousand different ways – from writing a message like ‘Hoppy Easter’ to applying a pattern or image like the bunny I spray-painted on. You can find the tutorial to make this DIY bunny doormat here.

Complete your outdoor entry with other décor such as stylish lanterns or outdoor plants.

Full entry

Inspiration board

On the console table inside, a large gold wire inspiration board is perfect for displaying Easter cards, family photos and even small décor.

After Easter, you can use this memo board in another room, such as your study, to display important reminders, inspirational quotes and photos.

Easter cards

Sweet bunny art

I was surprised to find this affordable bunny art print at Big W as it was almost identical to one I was planning on making!

You can find this framed wall print in the wall art section for $15 but if they sell out, you could consider making your own. Do this by cutting a bunny shape out of wrapping paper of your choice and placing it inside a plain A3 frame.

Bunny art

DIY Easter tree

Another simple DIY I’ve done is this Easter tree. By placing several branches in a ceramic vase, you can hang Easter eggs from the branches. There are many egg options (real blown eggs, plastic eggs or even chocolate eggs) and even more ways you can decorate them – just check out these sweet ideas on Pinterest.

I selected colourful fillable plastic Easter eggs from Big W that I spray painted white and placed little surprises inside, such as little chicks or Easter sweet treats.

Easter decorating

Festive lighting

On all special occasions, I think you’ve just got to include some festive lighting like these stylish paper lanterns or string lights.

You could lay the lights on your entry table or play with height as I’ve done and string them from the ceiling.

Lanterns

Easter décor

Finish your entry styling with smaller décor, such as these glass and ceramic bunny vessels that I filled with chocolate eggs or little chicks, which add a fun pop of colour.

Have you been inspired to try a few of these simple Easter decorating ideas for your entryway? I’d love to see your photos by tagging @stylecuratorau when you share them online or email hello@stylecurator.com.au.

With Easter just a couple of weeks away, now is the time to get your Easter styling on!

Today we’re sharing a super simple and affordable DIY, to create a sweet bunny doormat.

We opted for a simple bunny silhouette but you could find a stylish font and write a message such as ‘Hoppy Easter’ or play around with different prints, such as chevron which is often associated with Easter.

Items you will need:

  • Plain doormat (ours is $7 from Big W)
  • Black spray paint (or colour of your choice)
  • A3 piece of paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Masking tape

Steps:

1. Trace an outline of the image you want to apply to your door mat on the A3 piece of paper. If you’re a confident drawer, you could do this free-hand (keeping in mind intricate details will not work well with spray paint). Alternatively, you could print a silhouette shape from the internet that reminds you of Easter and use this as your template.

Trace bunny

2. Cut out the area you want to spray black and tape the paper template onto your mat. Tip: you can roll sections of tape to create double-sided tape to stick the paper down firmly, avoiding gaps where seeping could occur.

Bunny template

3. Spray paint the cut out area. Work quickly to prevent the paper getting wet and losing shape and keep a 30cm distance to prevent bleeding.

4. As soon as you finish spraying the area, carefully remove the paper and allow the mat to dry for 4 hours.

Bunny doormat

That’s how easy it is to create a personalised DIY Easter bunny doormat!

With Easter fast approaching, I’m sharing a new tutorial to make these gorgeous and lush DIY speckled Easter egg bath bombs. These make a fabulous gift idea, especially if you’ve been looking for Easter gift ideas for adults!

You can customise this tutorial to create whatever scent, colour or style of Easter egg bath bombs you like. For example, you could create feminine and natural eggs by using dried flowers (think dried lavender or rose petals), or you could try something a bit more colourful by using different food dyes (love the idea of ombre or dip dyed eggs). You could also get decorative by incorporating sugared flowers or even body glitter — the possibilities are endless!

I love the minimalism of these eggs and the way they mimic natural eggs so I’ve kept with a black and white speckle theme. Watch this short video to see how I made them or follow the written instructions below!

Items you will need:

  • 1 cup baking/bicarb soda
  • 1/2 corn starch/flour
  • 1/2 cup citric acid
  • 1/2 cup Epsom salts
  • 3 tsp. coconut oil (or olive oil)
  • 1 tsp. water
  • 2-4 tsp. essential oil (depending on how strong you want to make them)
  • Black food colouring
  • 2 bowls (and additional bowls if you want to create more scents and colours)
  • 2 small glasses/jars (and additional ones if you want to create multiple scents or colours)
  • Spoon
  • Egg mould
  • 2 sets latex gloves

These quantities will make 3 large egg bath bombs so if you would like to make more, simply double or triple the quantities.

Items you will need
Items you will need

Steps:

1. Place all the dry ingredients (baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salt) in a bowl and combine evenly.

2. In the glass or jar, combine all your wet ingredients (coconut oil, water, essential oils) and stir well.

3. Divide your wet mix and place 1/3 into a separate glass and colour this with black food dye. You will need around 1/2 a teaspoon of dye.

4. Now put 1/3 of your dry mix into a separate bowl and add the black mix you just created.

Put your gloves on and use your hands to combine the ingredients well.

If you use coconut oil like I did, you can simply add all the wet ingredients (thick paste consistency) to the dry and begin mixing by hand but if you use olive oil or a different liquid oil, you will NEED TO TAKE THIS STEP SLOWLY and only add droplets of wet ingredients at a time, combine them well and then add more and repeat until fully combined. This will prevent the dry ingredients from reacting and fizzing because you want to save that until bath time!

You may need to add more black food dye to get the shade of black you want. Continue combining the ingredients until you have an even ‘wet sand’ product.

5. Then put on a fresh pair of gloves and combine the remaining wet ingredients to the remaining dry ingredients. Continue to mix until combined well.

6. Sprinkle the black bath bomb mix into the bowl with the white bath bomb mix and gently pack your egg mould. You want to overfill both halves and then firmly press them together until they click.

7. Use the back of a spoon to gently tap the mould and then free the bath bomb. DON’T rush this step or force the mould or you will break your bath bomb. Just keep gently tapping until the mould can slip away.

8. Repeat until you have created all your eggs. Allow these to dry for 24 hours before packaging or using them.

That’s how easy it is to create these luxurious DIY speckled Easter egg bath bombs! This DIY will create 3 bath bombs so as I mentioned above, if you would like to create more than that simply double or triple all of the ingredients.

We hope you love this DIY Easter tutorial. There’s plenty more Easter inspo to check out on the blog, including our favourite Easter decor and Easter decoration ideas. Happy Easter x
